Hybroad®
The Hybroad® belt from Hutchinson is designed to meet the demanding requirements of various applications, particularly vehicle electrification.
Its design combines a high-strength aramid cord, fiber-reinforced EPDM compounds, and a continuous knitted fabric, ensuring excellent dimensional stability, high torque transmission capacity, and strong resistance to mechanical stresses.
- Excellent torque transmission capacity
- Excellent acoustic performance
- High resistance to demanding operating conditions
Expertise
The belt benefits from high manufacturing quality, thanks to a fiber-reinforced EPDM compound on the back side and a textile layer specifically designed for the manufacturing process, ensuring excellent cord line stability. Its aramid cord, combined with an optimized adhesion system, enables it to operate under very high tension while ensuring high reliability.
The optimized, fiber-reinforced EPDM compounds also provide an excellent capacity to transmit high torque. Finally, its continuous knitted fabric, specially developed for this application, ensures optimal grip in both dry and wet conditions, with appropriate friction coefficients maintained throughout the belt’s service life.
Structure
The back side of the belt provides contact with the idler pulleys and can also transmit power on flat pulleys. Highly reinforced with fibers, the new compound has been developed to withstand high mechanical stresses.
The aramid cord, a structural component of the belt, has been specifically selected to meet very demanding mechanical requirements. The Hybroad® belt therefore benefits from more than 10 years of Hutchinson expertise in molding EPDM belts with aramid cords, enabling it to operate under very high tension.
The ribs, made from a fiber-reinforced EPDM compound, have been optimized to minimize the occurrence of cracks and provide excellent resistance to mechanical stresses and environmental variations.
Finally, the rib surface is covered with a specially designed knitted fabric to ensure optimal and quiet torque transmission, both in dry and wet conditions, throughout the belt’s service life.
