Exploration & Extraction

Exploration and extraction expose equipment to particularly severe conditions, with pressure and temperature varying significantly according to depth. Hutchinson designs solutions that control movement, vibration and shock while ensuring the sealing integrity of risers and platform tensioners.

This expertise includes an FKM compound developed to meet the industry's most demanding requirements, approved to withstand explosive decompression even in the presence of H₂S at 400 bar.

Refining, Transport & Distribution

Refining and processing transform crude hydrocarbons into usable products through chemical processes that place significant demands on sealing materials.

LNG transport, meanwhile, relies on absolute cryogenic sealing integrity, as even the smallest leak could compromise the safety of an entire vessel. Hutchinson's Triplex secondary barrier, installed on the Gas Vitality, France's first LNG bunkering vessel, is an example of this expertise.

Finally, distribution relies on a network of valves and fittings that must remain leak-tight under varying pressures, from the production site through to the final point of delivery. Hutchinson leverages its specialist brands, including Gasket International, to ensure reliability at every stage of the supply chain.
