Power Transmission

for Wind power

Your Rotor Spins Far More Slowly Than Your Generator

A wind turbine rotor operates at a much lower speed than the generator it drives, requiring a highly reliable power transmission system within the confined space of the nacelle. Wind speeds can fluctuate rapidly, especially during gusts, placing continuous stress on the transmission system. Components that are not specifically engineered for these operating conditions can fail long before the turbine reaches its intended service life, especially when maintenance interventions in the nacelle remain complex, time-consuming, and costly.

Our Belt Drive Solutions

Ribbed Belts

Ribbed belts transmit torque through multiple longitudinal ribs rather than a single large belt section. This architecture allows the use of smaller pulley diameters, a key advantage within the restricted space available inside a wind turbine nacelle.

As the inventor of ribbed belt technology, we remain globally recognized for our expertise in engineering-based drive system design and sizing, helping customers optimize performance, durability, and system reliability.

Tensioners and Idlers

A transmission system can only perform as designed if belt tension remains properly controlled throughout its operating life. In wind turbine applications, constant variations in wind speed place additional demands on tension management.

We offer both fixed and dynamic tensioners, combined with our own idler pulleys, to provide a complete solution across the entire drive system. This integrated approach ensures that all components work together as a balanced system, avoiding the unexpected issues that can arise when individual components are selected independently.
