Bonded Pistons

Bonded pistons are essential components in complex systems such as automatic transmissions or variable-displacement water pumps, as they convert hydraulic pressure into linear motion. Piston seals ensure a tight seal between the pistons and the cylinder bores. As the piston rod moves, it exerts high pressure on the piston seal; it is therefore essential to ensure the seal has the appropriate mechanical and chemical properties to guarantee its performance.
Thanks to Hutchinson’s extensive expertise in materials and bonding systems, overmoulded pistons offer optimum performance and reliability without compromising on compactness
