Hydroelectric power

In a hydroelectric power plant, the turbine transfers its energy to the generator through a fully mechanical transmission system. Hutchinson brings decades of industrial expertise to this application.

Power Transmission

Coupling a turbine to a generator requires components capable of handling high torque and demanding rotational speeds. Our belts and transmission components transfer this mechanical energy while addressing both requirements.

Acoustics & Vibration

A turbine-generator set inevitably transmits some of its mechanical fatigue to the dam structure supporting it. Our anti-vibration mounts help limit this transmission.

Sensors / Detection & Measurement / Encoders

Hydroelectric sites are often difficult to access, in environments where humidity leaves no room for weakness. Our magnetic rings and inductive sensors continue to measure turbine rotational speed reliably, even under these conditions.

Precision Sealing

A valve or penstock is continuously exposed to pressurised water. Our O-rings maintain reliable sealing under this constant exposure.

Protection, Safety & Structure

Installing a turbine-generator set requires precise alignment from the outset. Our levelling systems ensure this precision.
